Art Test
This was an Art Test we did at Uni as an exercise.
We had one week to create this Sky Chief petrol pump as an asset for a AAA game, the reference images were given.
For me, this project was an opportunity to refresh my workflow after the Christmas break and push it even further. Moreover, I had the chance to practice getting proportions right, improving my skills in retopologising a high poly mesh and texturing in Substance Painter.
I spent roughly 57 hours on this and the production time is something I have to work on since I was hoping to do it quicker.
Overall, I’m happy with the final result; I know I have to improve in texturing and in using less geometry for the low poly model. We didn’t have a polycount limit which is why when I was retopologising, I tried to match the high poly model as much as I could in order to keep as much detail during the baking of the textures. In hindsight, I ended up using more polys than I originally intended for the low poly.
